Abstract

This research aims at a) finding out the minerals content and elements that compose basalt rock for hot stone massage and b) finding out the physical characteristics of basalt rock used for hot stone for massage. In Indonesia, basalt rock has not yet been utilized for hot stone. The mineral contents and the elements composing basalt rock are not known yet. Therefore, it is important to find out the characteristics of mineral contents and elements composing basalt rock used for hot stone massage.

This research belongs to experimental laboratory research. The data were collected by observation method. Samples were analysed using experimental method at Quality Control Laboratory with XRD and XRF instruments. They were used to find out the characteritics of mineral contents and elements that compose basalt rock for massage hot stone.

This results of this research are a) the characteristics of mineral contents and elements compsoing basal rock for hot stone massage are oxide compounds SiO2, Al²O³, Fe²O³, K²O,MgO, and Na²O; b) dark, fine-grained, and igneous are the physical characteristics of basalt rock. These characteristics enable basalt rock used for hot stone massage. Additionally, basalt rock is also advantageous for health.
