Abstract

Hemp fiber can be used as an alternative material for making false eyelashes because it has advantages such as being environmentally friendly, biodegradable and different from synthetic materials, human hair, and animal hair. This study aims to determine the feasibility of False Eyelashes from Fiber Trunk Rami (Boehmeria nivea [L] Gaud) for cosmetology. This research is an experiment that is quasi-experiment with Nonequivalent control group design. The object of this research is hemp fiber. Laboratory tests were carried out in the fiber laboratory of STT Textile Polytechnic Bandung. The organoleptic test was carried out by nine panelists consisting of three people from eyelash service businesses, three MUA and three panelists from Makeup and Beauty Lecturer FPP UNP. The research instrument used a questionnaire technique with a Likert scale. The statistical test was carried out by using the Independent sample t test. The data analysis techniques of this research are descriptive analysis, analytical methods, hypothesis testing. The results of laboratory examinations showed that flax fiber had fiber fineness with an average of 12.06 and a CV of 5.06%. The tensile strength/strand is more than 51.65. The statistical test found that there were differences in the average lightness, neatness and preference of false eyelashes in the control group and the experimental group. There was no significant difference in the average preference for false eyelashes in the control group and the experimental group.Hemp fiber can be used as an alternative material for making false eyelashes because it has advantages such as being environmentally friendly, biodegradable and different from synthetic materials, human hair, and animal hair.
