Abstract

In the hospitality industry, providing outstanding service is crucial. This can be accomplished by employing customer-focused personnel. The level of severe competition and the requirement to always provide the best service necessitates that hotel management regulate staff’s emotional labor, even student interns. There are still few empirical studies examining this concept among hospitality students and interns. In fact, whether it is connected with psychological exhaustion or work-related stress, these interns are at a pretty high risk. As is well-known, internship students do not receive comparable compensation to hotelier professionals. Interns are also subject to pressures from both the Hotel and the University. Their lack of experience is also their greatest challenge. The topic of whether or not these interns can still match the industry's needs by providing customer-focused services must be clarified. Studying features of emotional labor (Surface acting and Deep acting) in customer-oriented conduct and how behavior might be active by examining supervisor support as moderating variables. Data was taken at one point in time (cross section) of UNP students who were doing internships at hotels. Online data collection is conducted by utilizing the paid content distribution feature on digital platforms which is currently popular with the Indonesian people. Data were analyzed using variance-based SEM. The quality of the instrument was tested using the outer model and the Inner model was used for hypothesis testing. All hypotheses proposed in this study are supported
