Abstract

Tourism is one of the economic sectors that can be developed and utilized by the community to improve the welfare of the perpetrators. The current trend is tourism activities that return to nature, enjoying beauty such as beaches, mountains, lakes, valleys, and other scenery. Most villages in Indonesia have this potential, and the focus of this research is Ketaping Village in Batang Anai District, Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra Province. The main potential of Ketaping Village is the stretch of beach which is not far from the capital city of Padang Province. The length of the Ketaping beach is about 5 kilometers, directly adjacent to the Indian Ocean. Tourists can enjoy beautiful beach views in the afternoon, watch the sunset, and pay attention to the routine life of the fishing community. However, the big problem experienced by the community is that there is no proper collaboration between stakeholders involved in tourism management. Tourism has not been optimal in improving people's welfare, even though the number of tourist visits is high on weekends and holidays. Research to answer this problem was carried out using a qualitative approach, in-depth interviews were conducted with informants who have information related to village tourism, the socio-economic life of the community, as well as the support of various stakeholders to develop the village. The key informants are the village head (wali nagari), community tourism actors, and stakeholder representatives involved in village activities. Supporting informants are the general public in the village, tourists, and village officials. The results of this study indicate that efforts to develop tourism potential cannot be carried out by only a few people, all stakeholders who have an interest need to contribute, so that the actual results are more visible and can be more useful. Stakeholders whose contribution is needed include: the general public, government, academics, capital owners (tourism business), and the media (dissemination of information).
